Welcome to Dr Kat Mac Industry. This venture began with the creation of Wordswords in 2008, while studying Applied Linguistics at the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales. Wordswords offered a portfolio of intuitive and insightful language support services to meet local needs, including copyediting academic papers for my peers, editing and review of publications for research as well as participation in ground-breaking teaching-research into online language learning (SLATE project). My work crossed in to Korean-to-English Translation and Interpreting support for community organisations and learning institutes (such as the Northern Sydney Institute of TAFE, Drug-Free Ambassadors, Korean Kumdo Association member clubs, small businesses, etc.) and English language tutoring for friends and friends of friends.
Since completing my doctorate studies in Linguistics at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2020, WordSwords has emerged from its chrysalis as Dr Kat Mac Industry. This metamorphosis represents an expansion into synergistically related semiotic field, including creative language composition (grant writing and consultation, project management, poetry and prose) and music performance and composition (storied songs, lyrics and music). All of these enterprises have solid grounding in industry experience in the broad field of environmental community development. Copyediting and proofreading is available across any field and has successfully delivered projects on website content, legal papers, community messaging, marketing and grant writing. Dr Kat Mac Industry is built not only on sound linguistic qualifications, but also on real world experience and engagement in design, creativity and performance in the arts and crafts of language and music.
